Countrymen,
I stand my ground. I will do whatever necessary to preserve the Union. States who have recently seceded from the Union creating the so called Confederacy of America are as follows:
South Carolina December 20, 1860; Mississippi January 9, 1861; Florida January 10, 1861; Alabama January 11, 1861; Georgia January 19, 1861; Louisiana January 26, 1861; Texas February 1, 1861
I am here today to inform the American people of the Civil War in the U.S.:
On April12, 1861 Confederates under General Beauregard fired upon Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, South Carolina after Anderson was unwilling to surrender the fort. Just recently I was informed of the need of provisions at Fort Sumter for General Anderson. Anderson was waiting on my order for evacuation before they were attacked. I however needed more time… Anderson surrendered of the Fort April 13. The firing of Fort Sumter will not be tolerated. I hereby build an army and bring together state militias to protect the United States of America. I declare for about 75,000 volunteers. Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee, however, declined this request and seceded from the union. Despite these recent circumstances, and the dividing of our dear country, I assume this war will be over shortly. I assure you my fellow countrymen, the United States of America will not be torn apart under my command.

President Lincoln, we will stand by your side as you bring peace back to our country and continue to support the ideals of the people and the country. May we stand together united as the Union of the States
ReplyDeleteI stand behind you as well, President Lincoln. Your call to arms is supported by every Union member, and it will not change with me. I am positive that we can rise together to win this war and heal the wound caused by the Confederacy. Your rise to power can only be a good reason. I write to you from my shop, but I hope one day to fight for you again.
ReplyDeleteYOU will stand your ground? One who appeared so sensible now seems reckless. I feared this would happen with your election...bad leadership. My dear Lincoln, you whom never tasted battle can so easily vow to commit troops, and yet as never been to war. If you were only capable of hearing the south's side instead of being so hasty in destruction, then perhaps we can accomplish something.
ReplyDeleteI have confidence in your ability to bring our nation together, and I will continue to support every decision you make.
ReplyDeleteI believe it is unfortunately too late to preserve the Union. We may be able to piece it back together after this war, but the southern states that have seceded have made their position clear. We can only hope to win this war now.
ReplyDeletePresident Lincoln, as always I will follow the Union. If not for the Union, the country would not be strong. It should be as the name: United. I will continue to follow the troops, lend aid, and have faith in the efforts of our dear country.
